Welcome to
Rincon Surf Vacations

RSV's Founder

See that guy in the picture? That goofy-looking guy is Dustin, and he is the owner and proprietor of Rincon Surf Vacations. And Dustin has always been passionate about the ocean and its endless possibilities. He is obsessed with it.

Prior to moving to Puerto Rico, Dustin lived in Hawaii for ten years. He initially worked in an accounting position but quickly realized his true calling was on the water. Leaving his desk job behind, he started as a deckhand on a boat and worked his way up to captain. Over the years, Dustin gained experience working on various tour boats, including “swim-with-dolphins” and manta ray excursions, whale watching, scuba boats, dinner sails, and parasailing adventures. At the same time, he started and ran a successful Big Island Motorcycle Tour and Rental company.

Dustin always has to be on the move enjoying this beautiful world. Just last year, Dustin was working at Katmai Wilderness Lodge in Alaska, giving boat tours to see giant grizzly bears up close. Yep. Most people would say getting up close to see the biggest bears in the world is not so smart. Well, he does it anyway.

But now Dustin can be found in his regular routine of sailing and navigating the Caribbean waters. Some of his other passions include working on his motorcycles, scuba diving, exploring nature, and of course… surfing.

RSV's Origin Story

Dustin acquired the property land for RSV with the dream of renovating an old Puerto Rican house. Unfortunately, due to legal litigation, the property had to be torn down, and the initial dream had to be discarded. Undeterred, Dustin came up with an innovative concept: a boutique vacation rental business for other passionate surfers wishing to enjoy Rincon’s awesome environment and waves.

The idea of using shipping containers was initially suggested by Dustin’s mother as an affordable alternative to concrete construction. Although Dustin was initially skeptical, he soon realized the potential of shipping containers for creating unique and versatile designs. Keeping it simple, he decided to incorporate a botanical garden and build around the large trees already on the property. The development process has been organic and adaptive, evolving with each step, rather than following a traditional site plan. This approach has presented its own set of challenges, but it has also allowed for creative solutions for a truly one-of-a-kind vacation experience.

We broke ground and started building out the first container in Feb 2021. At RSV, we are dedicated to promoting sustainable and responsible tourism, supporting local businesses, and preserving the natural beauty of Rincon.

Rincón, Puerto Rico

Rincón is most definitely known for its beautiful beaches, world-class surfing spots, and laid-back vibe. The biggest draw being Rincón’s surfing spots. And because of this, it has earned the name, “Caribbean’s Surf Capital”. Domes Beach, Maria’s Beach, and Tres Palmas are all popular surf breaks, with their warm waters and consistent waves.

But Rincón offers plenty of other activities and events to enjoy as well. Throughout the years Rincon has hosted several festivals, including Rincón International Film Festival, Rincon Volky (Volkswagon) Fest, Rincón Surf Fest, and Rincón Triathlon. There are also art galleries, Farmer’s Markets, beautiful shops, and awesome restaurants with both Puerto Rican and international cuisines.

Rincon was originally founded as a farming community in the 16th Century. And since 1771 it has become a very popular tourist destination. Thousands of people visit every year, especially during the winter months when the waves are at their best. But despite all its popularity people will comment on the small-town charm and atmosphere that you can enjoy here.
