Among the things that set Rincón apart is its variety of breaks. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced pro, there’s something here for everyone – from long, mellow waves to fast tubes. The town is situated on a peninsula, so no matter which way the swell comes, you’ll find a good break.

It’s not just about the waves – Rincón is also incredibly beautiful and welcoming. Beaches are pristine, the locals are friendly, and the town has a relaxed, laid-back vibe that’s perfect for surfers. After a long session, you can refuel at the many great restaurants and bars here, and the sunsets are just amazing.

It’s basically a surfer’s paradise in Rincón, Puerto Rico. You’ll find world-class waves, stunning scenery, and a warm, welcoming community of fellow surfers here.

A list of popular Rincón Surf spots

  1. One of Rincon’s most popular surfing spots, Dome Beach is known for its consistent waves and beautiful scenery. With waves for all levels, it’s a great spot for beginners and advanced surfers alike.
  2. There is also Maria’s Beach in Rincon, which has long, rolling waves that are great for longboarders. During peak season, it can get crowded, but it is well worth the visit.
  3. If you’re looking for a challenge, Tres Palmas is the spot for you. Waves can reach up to 20 feet on this reef break, making it a true test of skill and bravery.
  4. Sandy Beach – As its name suggests, this beach has a soft, sandy bottom, which makes it great for beginners. Longboarding is also possible on the mellow, fun waves.
  5. On the north side of Rincon, Steps Beach is known for its shallow reef break that produces fast, hollow waves. Surfers looking for a challenge love this spot.
  6. Located a few miles from Rincon, Wilderness Beach offers beautiful, uncrowded waves. In this spot, intermediate surfers can escape the crowds.
  7. A popular spot for surfers and non-surfers, Jobos Beach is located in nearby Isabela. Waves are fun and consistent, and nearby amenities keep you fueled and refreshed.

Annual Surf Competitions

  1. Rincon Surf Fest – This is an annual surf competition that takes place at Domes Beach in Rincon. The competition features a variety of categories, including men’s and women’s shortboard, longboard, and stand-up paddleboarding.

  2. Corona Extra Pro Surf Circuit – This is a professional surf circuit that includes a stop in Rincon each year. The competition draws top surfers from around the world, and is held at various spots around Rincon depending on the conditions.

  3. Rincon Beachboy SUP Race – This is a fun, laid-back SUP competition that takes place at Sandy Beach in Rincon. All ages welcome.

  4. Punta Borinquen Pro – This is a professional surf competition that takes place in nearby Aguadilla, but draws many surfers from Rincon and the surrounding area. The competition is held at Punta Borinquen, a powerful reef break that can produce some of the best waves in the area.
